1. Does the Supplier Test Your Actual Parts — Before You Pay?
This is the single most important question in the evaluation process.
A spec sheet says “±0.005mm accuracy.” But that number is measured under ideal lab conditions — perfect lighting, a stationary target, a specific part. What matters to you is: Can this machine catch a 0.02mm burr on your specific M6 bolt, running at 1,200 pcs/min on your production line?
The only way to answer that is to test your actual parts on the actual machine. A supplier who is confident in their engineering will invite you to send samples — and will return a detailed detection report with camera layout, cycle time, and defect images showing exactly what was caught and what wasn’t.

Most supplier websites show machine exterior shots and parameter tables. That tells you what the machine looks like. What you actually need to know is what it can detect.
Look for a supplier who can show you a case library — real inspection results from real production lines. Not just “we inspect fasteners,” but specifically: “On this stamping fuse profile, we catch missing material, burrs, and dimensional deviations. On this hex product, we detect across-flats dimension errors and missing corners. On this tube nut, we verify thread presence or absence.”
Real defect cases mean the supplier has solved problems like yours before. If they can’t show you specific defect types on specific part geometries, they probably haven’t handled your application.

Adding 4 more cameras would capture the end faces, but based on your defect list, end-face defects aren’t a priority. That kind of reasoning comes from actually analyzing your parts — not from a standard quote template. It shows the supplier is thinking about your ROI, not their sales margin.
